Despite his excitement, one lucky Canadian man said he wanted to keep the news of his Poker Lotto win a secret.

Woodbridge, Ont. resident Piero Pagliaroli has been playing the lottery with OLG for 30 years. He said he enjoys playing a variety of games, such as Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, and Lottario. However, one day, he decided to try his luck by buying a $2 Poker Lotto ticket, adding on the $1 All-In option.

When he checked the results after the Feb. 27 draw, he couldn’t believe it — not only did he win the Poker Lotto All-In jackpot worth $164,287.70, but he also managed to win $5,000 in the Instant portion of his Poker Lotto play. As a result, he won a total of $169,287.70.

“When I saw I’d won, I was so happy I cheered,” said Pagliaroli while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his cheque. “I couldn’t believe it! It’s not every day you hit a Royal Flush!”

However, he mentioned that he didn’t want to share the news with everyone when he visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“Only the retailer knows,” he said, smiling. “I’m filled with pure gratitude. For now, I will save my winnings and invest.”

Pagliaroli purchased his ticket at Hasty Market on Martin Grove Road in Woodbridge.

Much like Pagliaroli, another Poker Lotto winner was determined to keep his win a secret, but the excitement proved too much.

“I tried to keep it a secret, only telling my wife, but I was just too excited and ended up telling everyone in town!” said Delta, Ont. resident Borden Curtis, who won a total of  $70,321.40 during the Jan. 20 draw.
