While some of us can’t even win a Free Play, one lucky Canadian is celebrating her second lottery win.

Debra McNair is a retiree and lottery player from Dashwood, Ont., who’s no stranger to winning. McNair has been playing Instant games for decades, and in 2003, she won a $10,000 prize with Instant Bingo.

However, nothing could have prepared her for the second and even bigger win 22 years later. The retiree recalled the moment she found out about her win.

“I was at home when I decided to play my ticket. Realizing I’d won big, I screamed, ‘OMG!’ It was unreal,” she recounted. “I immediately hopped in my car and headed to the closest store to verify my win.”

McNair couldn’t believe her luck: she had won the Instant Crossword Deluxe top prize worth $250,000. In disbelief, she held herself back from sharing the news with everyone.

“I’ve shared the news with a few friends, but I was waiting until the cheque was in my hands before telling anyone else,” she said while at the OLG Prize Centre to claim her winnings. “I know I’ve won, but it truly hasn’t sunk in yet. You always dream of things like this, but you never actually think it’ll happen to you.”

Now $250,000 richer, McNair can certainly look forward to an even more comfortable retirement.

“This win came at a great time for me,” she said with a smile. “I’ll be able to pay my bills and still have money to save. I also plan to buy a new computer.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Ontario Street North in Grand Bend.
