Christmas comes early for 19 Canadians after winning Lotto Max Maxmillions
A staggering 19 Canadian Lotto Max players got a Christmas Eve miracle after winning Maxmillions prizes.
The Lotto Max jackpot has been at the game’s maximum limit — $80 million — for three draws now, and the prize will roll over into Friday’s Boxing Day draw.
While many lottery players in Canada may have bought a ticket hoping to win the life-changing jackpot, unfortunately, no one was able to match all seven winning numbers: 03, 28, 37, 38, 39, 41, 43, and bonus 45.
However, there were plenty of lucky players who scored other major Lotto Max prizes.
Someone from Markham, Ont. matched six of the seven winning numbers, including the bonus, to score the second prize of $1,211,800.80. The third prize went to 104 Canadians, taking home $5,145.70 each.
There were 44 Maxmillions up for grabs, and 19 players beat the odds.
Three lottery players from Alberta scored a Maxmillions prize — two of them nabbed $1-million prizes, and one split the windfall with someone from Toronto, winning $500,000 each.
In Ontario, nine Canadians bought winning Maxmillions tickets. Each of Ajax, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Toronto, Nepean, and Woodbridge saw one winning ticket, and three were sold on OLG.ca. The winners from Toronto, Nepean, and Woodbridge split the Maxmillions, nabbing $500,000 each.
Four Maxmillions prizes were awarded to players in Quebec, with one splitting the prize with someone from Whistler. Another B.C. Lotto Max player from Kelowna is taking home a $1-million Maxmillions windfall.
Lastly, one person from Nova Scotia who bought their Lotto Max ticket on the Atlantic Lottery site won a $1-million Maxmillions prize.

The Lotto Max Extra winning numbers were 37, 50, 59, and 73. Someone from Parksville, B.C. matched all four, taking home $500,000 on Christmas Eve.
The next Lotto Max draw is on Friday, Dec. 26, with a prize pool reaching a whopping $126 million. That includes the $80-million jackpot and an estimated 46 Maxmillions. So, you may want to grab a ticket while you’re out Boxing Day shopping.
