Canadian wins $46-million Lotto 6/49 lottery jackpot

It was a life-changing weekend for one Canadian lottery player after their ticket matched the winning numbers in the latest draw.

There was a massive lottery prize worth $46 million up for grabs during the Lotto 6/49 draw on Dec. 20, and one lucky Canadian managed to match the Gold Ball winning number 12706438-43. According to PlayNow, the ticket was sold in the city of Quesnel, B.C.

Although no one won the Classic Draw Prize worth $5 million, two people managed to match five of the six winning numbers and the bonus number to score the second prize. Split between them, they’ll each receive $139,555.40. The tickets were purchased in Ontario and Quebec.

The third prize will be shared between 107 winners, who’ll each receive $1,095.30 after they matched five of the six winning numbers.

No one in B.C. won the Classic Draw Extra Prize worth $500,000, and similarly in Ontario, no one won the $1-million Encore prize.

Before this weekend, the last time someone scored the Lotto 6/49 jackpot was on Oct. 15, when Stacey Boyce of Whitecourt, Alta., won the $36-million Gold Ball Prize.

The next draw is on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and the prize has reset to $10 million.

Meanwhile, all eyes remain on the $80-million Lotto Max jackpot after there were no winners in the Friday, Dec. 19 draw.

Two people will still walk away winners after splitting a massive second prize. Each one will receive a share worth $470,796.60. The tickets were sold in Quebec and Alberta.

A total of 92 Canadians won the third prize, and each will receive a share of the winnings worth $4,826.70.

Several lottery players also won Maxmillions prizes during the draw. Four Ontario lottery players each won $1 million, while one lottery player from Atlantic Canada also won a Maxmillions prize.

In addition, three players in Ontario split a $1-million prize, while two others in the province shared a prize. Another Maxmillions prize was shared between two players in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

The last time someone won the Lotto Max jackpot was on Oct. 28, when a lottery player from Ontario won the $40-million jackpot. The ticket was sold in Grey County.

The next Lotto Max jackpot is on Tuesday, Dec. 23, and the jackpot is worth $80 million with 43 Maxmillions prizes to be won.
