Two Canadians will soon be celebrating a massive windfall, while three lottery players will take home major prizes.

The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Wednesday, April 30, and no one took home the Gold Ball jackpot worth $56 million. However, one lucky winner has just become $1 million richer after matching the White Ball winning number 51188509-03. According to PlayNow, that ticket was sold in Ontario.

The Lotto 6/49 Classic winning numbers were 01, 09, 12, 15, 34, 35, and bonus number 31. Unlike the draw on Saturday, April 26, no one won the $5-million prize. However, three managed to match five of the six winning numbers and the bonus number, thereby splitting the second prize. Each of them will be able to claim their share worth $81,676.10. Ontario lottery players continue to net more wins, as all three winning tickets were purchased in the province.

The third prize will be split among 117 people, and each will receive $879.40.

In B.C., no one won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra prize worth $500,000. The second big winner during Wednesday’s draw is a lottery player in Ontario who matched the Encore-winning numbers 6897816. They will be taking home a $1-million prize.

The most recent Lotto 6/49 jackpot winner is Edmonton, Alta., resident Thanh Lu, who won the $30-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot during the Feb. 5 draw. Lu said he plans to leave Alberta and use his winnings to buy a home in B.C.

“I want to get out of here,” he said with a laugh. “I am thinking of moving to B.C. for nicer weather and property on the waterfront.”

The next Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot is worth $58 million, and the draw is set for Saturday, May 3.
