A Canadian man is celebrating his recent $5 million lottery win, but instead of thinking about how he’ll use the money for himself, he already has plans to share it with his loved ones.

Darryl Woods of Prince George, B.C., matched all six numbers from the April 23 Lotto 6/49 draw.

He said he started “vibrating” after he learned he was going to be $5 million richer.

“I thought, ‘This can’t be real,’” Woods said in a news release. He added that he’d checked his lottery app three times to make sure he had actually won.

He said he was most excited to let one of his brothers know about his win. Woods knocked on his door while he was still asleep, but said he just couldn’t wait to share the good news.

“I woke him up at 7 a.m. to show him. He was a bit dazed at first, but was really excited for me once I showed him I won,” said Woods.

Woods remained tight-lipped about his win, only telling his family until he headed to the BCLC office in Kamloops to claim his prize.

He says he wants to use some of his winnings to buy a classic car or truck, but is most excited about gifting a “large portion” of the prize to his siblings and children.

Woods added that he’s most happy about “giving the money to [his] kids.”

He purchased his winning ticket at the Shah Brothers Convenience Store on Westwood Drive in Prince George.
