It’s Christmas in July for some parts of BC as a passing hail storm covered the Sun Peaks near Kamloops in a blanket of white on Monday.
Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality, a popular ski location in the Interior, captured the village square decked in hail on its webcam during this mid-summer winter wonderland.
Twitter user Keith Lyall said in his tweet that the roads were covered in three inches of “marble-sized hail” and that the temperature had dropped 20 degrees in one hour.
About 3 inches of up to marble size hail. Temperature dropped 20 degrees in an hour. Sorry that I say insane so many times but it was definitely that! pic.twitter.com/dh9vCnLPE4

In his video, Lyall mentions that the ice had started to melt and it looked like a “river running down the road.”
“It’s insane,” he repeatedly said while pointing his camera at the hail-covered roads.
Another Twitter user posted a picture of the village after the hail storm which surely looks like it was taken in the middle of December.

But that was not all. Strong winds from this short-lived yet intense storm also caused a power outage in downtown Kamloops.

While the storm provided much respite from the surrounding forest fires and rising summer temperatures, it has now melted and teleported the valley back to summertime.
