Winter storm watch in effect, up to 35 cm of snow possible for Calgary

Batten down the hatches, throw a log on the fire, and hold your loved ones tight; the snows are a-blowin’ into Calgary.

Environment Canada issued a winter storm watch for the City of Calgary just before 5 am on Wednesday morning, stating that a total of 25 to 35 cm of snow is possible by Friday.

According to the warning, the heaviest snows are expected on Thursday evening, though snowfall will begin on Wednesday evening and carry on into Friday.

This may come as bad news for anyone who received a ticket during the city’s snow route parking ban, as a winter storm could mean the ban will come back into effect.

If we can make it through the next few days, there is a little sunshine in our future; Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday are all expecting clear skies and (relatively) warmer temperatures.

But, until then, your hardiest boots and thickest gloves are definitely recommended.
