Construction kicks off on a brand-new grocery store just outside of Calgary
It’s been almost a year since it was revealed that a brand-new Walmart Supercentre would be opening just outside Calgary, but now we finally have an update on its progress.
Last October, Walmart Canada was confirmed as the first anchor tenant of the 1,200-acre Taza Park West, which is located just past Calgary’s city limits in Tsuut’ina Nation.
At the time, it was shared that construction on the new store was set to kick off in 2026, and it has now been revealed that the official groundbreaking will take place on Sept. 24.
The store is anticipated to open in 2027, serving as the primary grocery and general merchandise retailer in Taza Park, offering fresh food and household essentials.
Last year, it was revealed that a huge Real Canadian Superstore would also be opening in the nearby Buffalo Run development, spanning just under 100,000 square feet. The store is touted to open this fall.
