A brand-new Walmart Supercentre is set to be built just outside of Calgary.

Walmart Canada has been confirmed as the first anchor tenant of the 1,200-acre Taza Park West, just outside Calgary in Tsuut’ina Nation.

Construction on the new Walmart Supercentre is expected to kick off in 2026, with the store anticipated to open in 2027. The spot will serve as the primary grocery and general merchandise retailer in Taza Park, offering fresh food and household essentials.

“As we expand our footprint across the country through our landmark $6.5-billion investment in Canada over the next five years, we’re proud to be part of this historic development in Tsuut’ina Nation,” said Paula Bonner, VP of format development at Walmart Canada.

“We’re looking forward to bringing local jobs and everyday low prices to this community.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed that a huge Real Canadian Superstore would also be opening in the nearby Buffalo Run development, spanning just under 100,000 square feet.
