It has been nearly two months since police found a man dying of a gunshot wound in a Calgary alleyway, and now two brothers are facing charges of first-degree murder related to the shooting.

The brothers, 30-year-old Jermaine Bailey and 25-year-old Xavier Bailey, both of Calgary, had been taken into custody following the shooting but were later released by police with no charged laid.

They remained suspects, however, and were again arrested on March 7, according to a release from the Calgary Police Service.

The victim of the shooting, 34-year-old Jordan Moore, had been seriously injured when he was discovered just after midnight on January 22.

He was found in an alleyway behind the 100 block of 15th Street NW.

He was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The release states that police do not believe that Moore had been known to the accused prior to the incident, though also believe that “the incident that led to the homicide was not random.”

Both brothers are scheduled to appear in court today, Thursday, March 14 on first-degree murder charges.
