The Table YYC offering essential items to Calgarians in need

A small initiative is making a big difference for vulnerable Calgarians.

The Table YYC, a grassroots charity that has been operating since August of this year, has been setting up their titular table at Central Memorial Park every Sunday, offering a wide variety of essential items for those who may need them.

With everything from hygiene products to clothing to the occasional chocolate bar, The Table YYC operates off of donations made by those in the area who are looking to help out their fellow Calgarians.

The table is set up at Central Memorial Park every Sunday from noon to 5 pm, is 100% crowdfunded, and is accepting volunteers who are hoping to help out.

A list of needed items was posted on a handwritten sign, which includes:

  • Grocery money
  • Toothbrushes/toothpaste
  • Sandwich bread/meat
  • Juice boxes/cartons
  • Flats of water bottles
  • Snacks (granola bars, fruit cups, chocolate, etc)
  • Emergen-C packs
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • T-shirts, sweaters, warm layers, rain/winter, professional clothing
  • Soap, sanitary wipes
  • Lotion/Vasaline
  • Fresh fruit/veggies
  • Tents, sleeping bags, blankets, first air foil
  • Facemasks, vinyl gloves

Any one in need can simply swing over to the table on Sundays to get what they need, and those hoping to donate any items can also swing by Central Memorial Park between noon and 5 pm.
