Legendary Calgary banh mi spot is reopening in the city next month

One of Calgary’s most well-known and loved banh mi spots is moving once again.
Over the last couple of years, Thai Tai, the incredibly popular spot for Vietnamese street food, closed its original 17th Avenue location after two decades. While it reopened on 8th Street SW, that location closed its doors just over a year later.
For the past few months, Thai Tai has been operating as a ghost kitchen, but now, it looks like it’s returning home to the Beltline once again. Signage for the new outpost has been spotted on 17th Avenue, taking over the space that was previously Truth Bar.

“We will be back and ready to serve you on February 1, 2026,” the sign on its door reads.

Thai Tai serves up a variety of Vietnamese street food options, but its subs are the star of the show, with over 15 fillings on the menu. Flavour-packed varieties include the Tiger Prawn sub, the Sate Beef sub, and more.
It also offers wonton and noodle soups, spring rolls, and Vietnamese pork chops.
Calgarians won’t have too long to wait before they’re reunited with the fan-favourite spot.
