Calgary will be seeing its first ever romance novel festival this summer, and attendees will be enjoying more than just a few steamy books.

The Sultry and Sweet Summer Reads YYC Festival will take place on Sunday, June 24 at the Eau Claire Market, and will be free for all to attend.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet some of the city’s talented writers, including Nancy M. Bell, Bernice Bohnet, Victoria Chatham, M. Jane Colette, B.C. Deeks, Amy Jo Fleming Rayanne Haines, Jenna Howard, Jilly Jaxx, Shelly Kassian, Elizabeth Kelly, Gwen Knight, Kymber Morgan, Katie O’Connor, Jan O’Hara, Alyssa Linn Palmer, Jude Pittman, Mahrie Reid, Brenda Sinclair, Suzanne Stengl, Billie Turner, and AM Westerling, and many more.

A burlesque performance is also expected to be part of the festivities, along with some oration by Calgary own Naked Girls Reading — though they will be clothed for this event.

Games, prizes, and surprises will be in store throughout the day, according to the event’s Facebook page, with the entire festival winding down by 4 pm.

Eager participants can reserve their spot online by going to Eventbrite.ca.
