Win a dedicated park bench at one of Calgary's most popular viewpoints

Feb 12 2021, 12:36 am

What better way to show someone how much you love them than by having a park bench dedicated in their honour?

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Bench and Picnic Table Dedication Program, Parks Foundation Calgary is providing YYC with an exciting opportunity.

One lucky Calgarian will win a custom bronze plaque on a dedication bench at the popular Scotsman’s Hill, and the plaque will remain in place for three full years.

Scotsman’s Hill is an iconic viewpoint in the city, overlooking Stampede Park and the Saddledome, and providing unobstructed views of the downtown skyline. During Stampede Week, this raised park allows the budget-conscious a chance to experience the fireworks up close without entering Stampede Park.

If you’d like the honour of dedicating a bench to someone at this famous spot, there are three ways to enter:

  • Send a beautiful photo of any Parks Foundation dedication bench or picnic table in the city along with your contact information in the entry form.
  • Send a story about your existing dedication bench or picnic table via entry form.
  • Send a story about what winning a new dedication bench would mean to you via entry form.

Download the entry form here and, once complete, attach it to an email directed to [email protected].

You can submit your entry right up until 11:59 pm on May 31, so take your time, get creative, and be sure to put lots of thought into your entry – maybe even explore some Calgary parks in the hunt to find your favourite dedication bench or picnic table!

The winner will be chosen by random draw on June 1, and after three years they will have the chance to renew their term (for a fee).

Good luck, YYC!
