A major new open-air retail centre in Calgary is currently underway in the community of Belmont. The development will cover 145,000 sq. ft and feature 14 buildings.
The centre will be located at 480 210th Ave. SW. According to the project developer’s website, the development will feature 145,000 sq. ft. of retail space across 14 buildings, anchored by a grocery store, drug store and liquor store. It will also include quick-service and full-service restaurants, personal services and a dynamic high street anchored by a two-level childcare building.
Once complete, the plaza will meet the local demand for retail and serve roughly 35,000 residents, who currently have to travel outside of their communities for daily essentials. It is expected to improve convenience, providing a central hub for shopping, dining, and services.
Anthem Properties Ltd. and Harbour Equity Capital Corp. partnered to build the plaza to support the West Macleod area.
Construction began in August 2025, and it is expected to open in summer 2027. The plaza will offer access from both 210th Avenue and Sheriff King Street, providing easy entry for visitors.
This development will be Anthem Properties Ltd.’s third retail development in the Calgary area in recent years. Highstreet at Cornerstone in NW Calgary and D’Arcy Crossing in Okotoks are the other two projects they have developed, built, and managed.
“We’re excited about the acquisition of this site as we continue to build on our track record of delivering vibrant shopping centres in Calgary. This marks our first partnership with Harbour Equity, and we’re proud to be working with a partner who shares our values and commitment to creating thriving community spaces,” said Jordan Carlson, executive vice president, Anthem Properties and President, Anthem Holdings Canada, on their website.
“We look forward to building on our shared objectives through this project, and to exploring more opportunities together in the future.”
