Calgary restaurant named as one of the world's top pizzerias

Calgary restaurant has been recognized on the global stage, earning a place on a list of the top 100 pizzerias in the world for the second year in a row.
Independent guide 50 Top Pizza has revealed its ranking of the world’s top 100 pizzerias. For 2025, Calgary’s very own Pizza Culture came in at number 81, and was the only Canadian spot to make the list.
Pizza Culture jumped up several spots from last year’s list, where it placed at 96.
Each of the pizzerias on 50 Top Pizza’s list is reviewed anonymously by critics, which informs the annual guide.
Pizza Culture, which opened in 2020 by Jeremy Hube, serves up a taste of authentic Neopolitan pizza from its location on Edmonton Trail, using authentic ingredients and techniques.
“Among the pizzas to try, we recommend the Nduja, with San Marzano tomatoes, nduja, mozzarella, onion rings, and basil, which particularly impressed us,” the guide said of Pizza Culture’s offerings.

It also recommended the classic Margherita, which it added allows guests to fully appreciate the goodness of the dough.
Its dough, which is crafted using Double Zero flour imported from Italy, isn’t refrigerated. Instead, it’s naturally leavened, using a sourdough starter that has been continuously refreshed for a decade, Hube told Dished.
Authentic ingredients are also crucial, with as many sourced from Europe as possible, such as tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and olive oil.
One of Pizza Culture’s most important Italian imports is its impressive oven. Built by a third-generation oven builder in Naples, the Stefano Ferrara creation is at the heart of the operation.
The oven, which is fired with cherry and apple wood from the Okanagan, reaches a staggering 900 degrees Fahrenheit, cooking its pies within 90 seconds.
We love to see a Calgary restaurant getting some well-deserved recognition.
