Brunch restaurant just outside of Calgary temporarily closes after five months

A popular brunch spot has been forced to temporarily close the doors of its Okotoks franchise after five months.
Morning Brunch Co., a popular spot known for its affordable brunch options, opened its new outpost at D’Arcy Crossing in August 2024.
However, the company announced on January 30 that it had temporarily closed in Okotoks. In an email to Dished, a spokesperson for the property owner at D’Arcy Crossing alleged there had been a breach of the lease with the tenant.
“In light of recent events, our MBC Franchise store in Okotoks is temporarily closed,” Morning Brunch Co. said in a statement.

“While this is a challenge, it is only a moment in our journey. We are committed to learning, staying resilient, and doing everything we can to reopen.”
“At this time, we must allow the legal process to unfold, but we remain hopeful for positive news soon.”
A spokesperson for Anthem Properties told Dished there had been a breach of its lease contract with the tenant at Unit 302, 10 D’Arcy Ranch Drive.
While they added they could not go onto specific details on the issue, they confirmed they are working with the franchisor on reopening.
“We are currently working with the franchisor with the understanding that they have plans to reopen once we finalize some outstanding details,” they added.
Morning. Brunch Co. has yet to share a date for reopening, so stay tuned for updates.
