Calgary restaurant celebrating the flavours and traditions of India is opening this spring
Calgary is no stranger to exceptional Indian cuisine, with some restaurants serving traditional dishes for over 50 years. Now, the city is getting a brand-new spot for Indian dining.
Kondattam Indian Kitchen & Bar will celebrate the flavours, traditions, and connections around food from its location at 1006 1 St. SE. Its name even stems from the Tamil word for “celebration.”
Owned by Sudha Thangavel, who was born and raised in India, diners will experience the warmth, authenticity, and vibrancy of Indian gatherings in Calgary when it opens this spring.

While the restaurant has yet to reveal its menu, it will offer traditional Indian dishes with a modern twist.
“From fiery North Indian tandoori delights to coconut-infused curries from the South, each dish is crafted to capture the authenticity and uniqueness of its regional origins,” Kondattam’s website says.
The spot will also focus on sustainable sourcing, supporting local farmers and producers as much as possible.
