Calgary's first Lao restaurant has opened in the city

While Calgary is home to a fair number of restaurants specializing in Southeast Asian cuisine, the city has just gained its first restaurant that serves authentic Lao dishes.

Taking over the space formerly home to Wonton King in Calgary’s northeast, Kin Dee Street Kitchen offers a taste of authentic Lao and Thai flavours.

While the spot offers a concise menu, diners will be able to check out its spring rolls, salad rolls, chicken satay skewers, as well as its crispy Laos fried wings.

Guests can also get their hands on Lao-style papaya salad, featuring spicy shredded green papaya tossed in chilli, lime, and fish sauce for the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy.

For mains, Kin Dee has plenty of dishes that will be familiar to those who love Thai cuisine, such as Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, and pork skewers with sticky rice.

What’s most impressive is the pricing, with most dishes at Kin Dee ringing in at under $10, making it an affordable lunch or dinner spot.
