Jaromir Jagr is a on a one-year contract, but he might not last the season with the Calgary Flames.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie gave some insight into the situation on Friday.
All this is set against backdrop of whatâs believed/rumoured to be an âarrangementâ or âunderstandingâ between CGY and Jagr when he signed; that if it wasnât working out for one party or the other, mutually agreed termination of contract could be invoked…

…but what are/were precise terms of that âunderstandingâ and are they currently applicable? In any case, Jagrâs situation in CGY is certainly worth monitoring and perhaps could become clearer in the days ahead.

Jagr, who is currently injured, has had a rough first half of the season with the Flames. With just one goal and six assists in 22 games, he’s on pace for the worst season of his illustrious NHL career.
The 45-year-old future Hall of Famer has said that this will be his last season, and he has a chance to make history. Jagr trails Mark Messier by 23 for second on the all-time games played list. With 42 games left in Calgary’s season, he has a great chance to be first all-time in games played if he can stay healthy, as he trails Gordie Howe by 34.
But if Jagr’s not contributing at a level he’s proud of, he may not wish to continue playing for much longer.
