4 huge international chain restaurants that have recently opened in Calgary
It’s been a mega year for restaurant openings in Calgary, and as part of that, there have been plenty of international chains entering the mix.
From sandwich shops with a global presence to world-famous spots serving smash burgers and milkshakes, there have been some enormous additions to the YYC food scene.
Here are some of the newest international chain restaurants that have recently opened in Calgary.
Wingstop

Last year, Dished reported that the world-famous chicken wing chain Wingstop would soon be opening in Calgary, and in June, that dream became a reality.
For those unfamiliar with Wingstop, the fast-casual spot is primarily known for its chicken wings, which can be served both bone-in and boneless, as well as its chicken tenders.
While the first location landed in Deerfoot Meadows, another Wingstop location is gearing up to open at the CF Chinook Centre.

Shake Shack

Shake Shacks are like buses in that you spend ages waiting for one to show up, and then two come along one after the other. Shortly after opening in the CF Chinook Centre in May, the burger joint opened another location on Macleod Trail.
Both locations offer all the Shack favourites, from burgers, fries, and, of course, shakes, alongside some Alberta-exclusive items.

Jimmy John’s

After opening its first Alberta location in Sherwood Park, it’s now Calgary’s turn, with Jimmy John’s first YYC outpost opening in the heart of the University District.
Expect loaded sandwiches, Jimmy chips, and more from the new spot.

Jersey Mike’s

We hope you like sandwiches, because rounding out the newest chains entering YYC is Jersey Mike’s, which has just opened on Macleod Trail.
Known for its legendary subs, Jersey Mike’s offers both fresh-sliced cold and grilled hot sandwiches, with a huge variety of toppings. They can also be ordered “Mike’s Way,” adding onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil, and spices.
