The Calgary hotel scene is getting even busier, with a brand-new Fairmont officially joining the city’s list of upcoming hotels.

On Thursday, hospitality group Accor announced plans for a 225-key Fairmont hotel, alongside Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and Calgary-based development group Truman.

The new hotel, named Fairmont Calgary, is slated to open in late 2031 and will feature guest rooms, a signature spa and wellness offering, meeting and event spaces, and 100 luxury branded residences.

Adding a second property in this flourishing city where the beloved Fairmont Palliser currently resides will be a significant achievement, and reinforces Fairmont’s leadership position in Western Canada, as well as strengthens our long-term brand commitment to Calgary as a destination,” said Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, in a release.

The hotel is still in the early stages, with designs yet to be announced, and regulatory approval processes to be initiated in Q1 of this year.

“The property’s development adds a major economic benefit to Calgary, providing employment opportunities during its construction and hospitality jobs once open.”

This hotel isn’t the only new accommodation coming to Calgary. Construction on a brand-new Autograph Collection Hotel in Stampede Park is underway, and two Marriott hotels were announced last year.
