Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson shouts out Calgary (again) in Instagram video
While it may seem like it was only yesterday that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was confessing his love for Calgary… It’s because it was only yesterday that The Rock was confessing his love for Calgary.
The wrestler-turned-actor posted a photo to his Instagram on Tuesday showing him standing at the Calgary International Airport, bag in hand.

“Defining memories. Wow.Ā Landed last night here in Calgary, Alberta Canada šØš¦ to continue shooting JUMANJI,” he wrote, in the post.
“My brain was flooded with crazy experiences here. This is the city where me having on $7 bucks in my pocket all began. I have a deep reverence for this town ā she shook me in the best way possible. Good to be back. Let’s get back to work.”
The Rock had played CFL football with the Calgary Stampeders back in the day, an experience he explained inĀ a previous video filmed in Vancouver in August 2017.
In a Wednesday video posted to Instagram, he took a look back on his time in YYC while enjoying the sights that Calgary’s surrounding areas have to offer.
“Hello from a very special place, this place is reflective of how ironic and unpredictable life is,” he said, in the video.
“I came to this area, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, almost 20 years ago with a big dream and the willingness to work. I left this area almost 20 years ago, my dreams were crushed.”
The future actor had been cut by the CFL team when he was 22 years old just two days after playing in his first pro football game.
“That’s when I had seven bucks in my pocket I mean, this is where the seven buck story began, so it’s so ironic that I’m back here now shooting JUMANJI with this amazing cast and this hard-working crew. But what’s amazing about this, and unpredictable, and ironic, is this is on the eve of me making one of the biggest announcements and the biggest honours in my entire career.”
The honour, as unveiled by The Rock in a follow-up Instagram post, was that he has been included in ā and made the photo cover of ā TIME’s 100 most influential people list.
“Iām boundlessly humbled and honoured to grace the cover ofĀ @TIME. Iāve been quite the lucky man over the decades to have such a successful career, but itās only due to the deep connection I have with the fans, the audience – the people,” he wrote in the post’s caption.
“To have success at something is one thing, but to have a global positive influence on peopleās lives is the greatest and most powerful strength one could ever have.Ā Thank you TIME Magazine for this exceptional honour.Ā And most importantly, thank you to my one and only boss – the people.Ā Our connection will always remind me that itās nice to be important, but itās more important to be nice.”
Congrats to The Rock on the achievement ā we’re just glad to hear he’s enjoying his time in YYC a little more this time around!
