Hot chicken restaurant with major following opens new Calgary location
After opening to a huge fanfare in Calgary last summer, a popular restaurant chain known for its hot chicken has just opened its third location in the city.
Dave’s Hot Chicken has opened a brand-new YYC outpost located at 10640 Macleod Trail SE, where diners in the south will be able to get their hands on the spot’s famous chicken sliders and tenders.
First opening in an East Hollywood parking lot in 2017, Dave’s Hot Chicken has accumulated a huge following around the world, expanding to dozens of locations globally. Its popularity soared even higher when Canadian rapper Drake acquired a stake in the company in 2021.

The concept has several locations across Canada, including Ontario, Edmonton, and Calgary.
The spot offers a concise menu, consisting of just chicken tenders, sliders, and a handful of sides. However, its chicken can be customized to one of seven different heat levels, from zero spice right up to its legendary tear-inducing “Reaper” heat.
It also offers fries, kale slaw, and real ice cream milkshakes to help cool off from the serious spice.
This is the third outpost to open in Calgary, with its first opening in East Hills and a second opening in Beacon Hill last year.
