A $21M four-lane divided highway is in the works east of Calgary

A new four-lane divided highway is in the works just east of Calgary, and the project will make travel much easier out towards the hamlet of Conrich and the surrounding areas.

The new highway will involve realigning Township Road 250, a key corridor in Rocky View County and adding more lanes, turning it into a more efficient route for local residents, commuters, and commercial traffic.

The plan involves shifting the existing roadway and expanding it into a divided four-lane highway. The estimated cost of the project is just over $21,000,000, and construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026.

The project will roll out in two phases. Phase 1 will see the construction of the first two lanes of the new highway. It will also include a new CN Rail crossing and a signalized intersection where Township Road 250 and Conrich Road meet. Phase 2 will add two more lanes, completing the four-lane divided design.Ā

The project is being developed by Rocky View County, and while it is currently labelled as proposed, the Rocky View County council has approved the budget for the first phase of the development.

The project entered the design phase in Q2 of 2025, and it is now in the tender phase.Ā

There are a bunch of new developments happening in and around Calgary, like a $300 million Lethbridge project, a brand-new sanitary tank in west Calgary, and even a new playground in Calgary with a 30-foot slide.
