
It’s almost time to ring in the Year of the Dog!
Chinese New Year is right around the corner, and with it comes a nine-day celebration featuring delicious food, stunning lion dances, and picturesque lanterns.

This year’s big celebration will be held at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre from Saturday, February 10 to Sunday, February 18, and attendees will be able to enjoy exhibits throughout all nine days, though the market and performances will only be for the weekends.
The official day of Chinese New Year falls on Friday, February 16 this year.
The Year of the Dog was last observed in 2006, and is also known as the Chinese Lunar Wuxu Year.
The event is open to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds, and is free to attend – though you may need to bring some change for nearby parking, as they’re paid lots.
According to a release from the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, this year’s festival market will be the most colourful that Calgary has ever seen.
This is definitely not something to miss – just be sure you don’t forget that camera!
