7 celebrity restaurant and bar sightings in Calgary that had us starstruck this year

The restaurant and bar scene in Calgary is exceptional, and plenty of celebrities seem to have got the memo, with some huge names dining in the city over the last year.

Calgary restaurants, bars, and clubs saw a host of stars visiting this year, from huge TV names to a Calgary-born superstar. Here are some of the biggest celebrity restaurant and bar sightings in Calgary in 2025.

Guy Fieri

Earlier this year, the legendary TV host, Guy Fieri, revealed that he had recently shot a bunch of new episodes of his hit series Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in Calgary.

As part of filming, Fieri headed to Darwin’s Charcoal BBQ Chicken, a Filipino spot offering island-style charcoal BBQ chicken. The chicken is marinated for 48 hours in a secret blend of spices before being grilled to perfection over hardwood charcoal.

As well as Darwin’s, Fieri was spotted at Cityboys Outpost, The Matcha Way, and Pure Street Food.

Calgary’s very own superstar, Tate McRae, paid a visit to Mercato, a 4th Street staple for Italian food, this summer.

The singer, a Calgary native who’s known for huge pop hits including “Sports Car” and “Greedy,” even took an adorable photo with the iconic Mercato matriarch, Mama Cathy, while she was there.

Dave Chappelle paid a visit to Proof, with the cocktail bar sharing a snap of the comedian, who was in town for a show at the Saddledome on Dec. 2.

Proof is one of Calgary’s most notable cocktail bars, making regular appearances on Canada’s 100 Best Bars and North America’s Best Bars lists. It’s one of the best spots in the city for an expertly crafted drink.

As usual, Calgary’s nightclubs were the place to be for the chance of running into some famous faces during the Stampede.

American singer Leon Bridges was spotted at Bleu nightclub in Calgary while in town for back-to-back sold-out shows at Spruce Meadows.

In addition to Bleu, Bridges was also spotted at Papi nightclub during its Stampede afterparty on Sunday, July 6.

Off the back of his enormous Coke Stage performance on the Stampede grounds, Don Toliver paid a visit to Bleu.

“The club really did go up on a Tuesday; it was lit,” Bleu said in an Instagram post.

Toliver was also joined by fellow performer Tinashe.

Following her Coke Stage performance during the Calgary Stampede, American singer Tinashe checked out Papi.

“Last night was nothing short of amazing! Shout out to Tinashe and her crew for stopping by our Stampede afterparty after her incredible concert,” Papi said in an Instagram post.
