With the snow returning to the city in full force this week, you might be tempted to despair, but there are so many amazing things to do in Calgary during the winter months!

Over the summer months, Calgarians love heading to Winsport for the downhill karting; but when the snow comes, the park transforms into a winter activity hub that includes tubing. Canada Olympic Park is known for its skiing and snowboarding scene but there’s so much more. Tubing is an easily accessible, all-ages activity that will have the whole family loving the snow!

Christmas markets

Nothing brings out that warm and fuzzy holiday season feeling like Christmas markets. Many of them start in November, so you’ll want to be on the lookout even if it feels a little early. There are so many markets around the city, the hardest part is choosing which one to go to.

Where: We recommend the Saskatoon Farm Christmas Market and the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market.

Zoo Lights has become a staple event in Calgary since it started over 25 years ago! The cold temperatures that often come along with visiting at night are memorable but so are the stunning light displays, warm drinks and firepits scattered around the grounds.

Skating at Olympic Plaza

There are a handful of places to go skating outdoors for free in Calgary, but skating at Olympic Plaza is an iconic winter activity. We can’t wait for our first time back on the ice!

Holiday pop-up bars

Every year, one of Calgary’s favourite cocktail bars, Proof, turns into the ultimate Christmas experience.
