The Soul Exchange

What: A night merging the various ends of hip-hop with performers of rap, R&B, and spoken word poetry. There will also be a short open mic (five slots) with sign up starting at 5:30 pm. The event is all inclusive, but due to explicit language, this event is not recommended for youth under the age of 15.

Peggy Baker Dance Projects: who we are in the dark

What: Choreographed by acclaimed Canadian dance artist Peggy Baker, who we are in the dark is a contemporary dance performance. Jeremy Gara and Sarah Neufeld, both members of Grammy and Juno award-winning rock band Arcade Fire, are joined on stage by seven dancers in a work that explores and illuminates shifting identities, betrayals, secrets, and intimacies played out in the dark.

Artifact Small Format Film Festival

What: The Artifact Small Format Film Festival (formerly the $100 Film Festival) is Calgary’s only celluloid-based film festival. Over the years, Artifact has expanded to include the popular Film/Music Explosion!, commission projects, and various partnerships.

Night Tubing at Canada Olympic Park

What: For the remainder of this winter season, the Acura Tube Park will be open on select nights from 5 to 7:30 pm, allowing business-hour-workers the chance to go for a few slides — without the hassle of the crowded slopes on the weekend. If not night tubing, the park is also open on most weekend days from 10 am to 1 pm or 2 to 5 pm.

Pour Sportsmanship Latte Art Competition

What: The Calgary coffee community comes together for the Pour Sportsmanship Latte Art Competition. Guest judges from local roasteries will decide whose latte art reigns supreme. Wild Seas, Secret Shores with photographer Thomas Peschak

What: A Founding Member of the Manta Trust, a senior fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and the former Director of Conservation of the Save Our Seas Foundation, Peschak has dedicated his career to documenting the beauty and fragility of the world’s oceans, islands, and coasts. He is a twelve-time winner in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, has published several books, and gave a TED Talk on seascapes and hidden ecosystems in 2015.
