What’s up with Bow Habitat Station

What: Explore Alberta’s wildlife and natural spaces on the first Friday of the month. Visit investigation stations in the Discovery Centre to discover the wildlife that make their home right here in Calgary! Join in a large group activity at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm or 2:30 pm to discover how wildlife has adapted to city life with special guests from Alberta Parks. Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society will be hosting an investigation station all about some furry and feathered friends you might find in our city. Hands-on activities are designed for learners ages two and up.

Eden Brent

What: Singer, songwriter, and boogie-woogie pianist Eden Brent comes to Calgary with her spontaneous and electric style of juke-joint blues. Brent’s rollicking original sound has earned her eleven blues music award nominations with four wins including Acoustic Artist of The Year and Acoustic Album of The Year by the Blues Foundation.

Cochon555 Culinary Weekend

What: Happening from April 5­ to 7, this aptly named event (cochon is French for “pig”) is a celebration of the whole culinary community, from the farmers and chefs to the diners themselves. Cochon555 was created back in 2008 in response to a lack of education around traditional heritage-breed pigs. From long-table collaborative dinners with international guest chefs to breathtaking brunches and outstanding local wines and spirits, prepare yourself for the ultimate culinary weekend.

Sustainable Fashion Show & Market

The Calgary Woman’s Show

Heritage Park 10th Anniversary Celebration

Light it Up Calgary 2019

What: Light It Up Calgary allows Calgarians a chance to rediscover the joys of running outside (without completely freezing) with a 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km route. Registering will run you $40 — no matter which route you choose — with funds going towards supporting cancer survivors through Wellspring Calgary.

Light It Up Calgary is unique compared to some of the other footraces in the city, as it begins right when the lights go out — meaning you’ll need to bring along a headlamp, flashlight, or some other form of light to make your way through Calgary’s streets.

Pow Wow Dancing

What: The City of Calgary and Northminster United Church are working together to help educate and bridge the cultural gap between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in our communities. They welcome Darcy Turning-Robe from the Siksika Nation for a traditional Pow Wow. Bridge cultures in this interactive session and learn about the significance of Pow Wows and the Chicken Dance, a dance significant to the Blackfoot people.

Sikh Heritage Month

What: In honour of Sikh Heritage Month, The Military Museums will be hosting an exhibit highlighting Sikh Military involvement from Saragarhi to present day in the atrium until April 30. Augmented Reality Experience at The CORE 2019

What: An augmented reality exhibit is soon to open at Calgary’s The CORE Shopping Centre, in partnership with UK-based technology provider INDE. Attendees will stand on a platform in front of a gigantic screen, which will show them standing alongside everything from whales to giraffes to dinosaurs. Three different experiences will be available to try out, — Air, Land, and Sea; Arctic Explorer; and Back to the Jurassic — with each providing a different setting along with different animals to encounter.

Fauré: Requiem

What: The Calgary Men’s Chorus, Mount Royal Kantorei, and St. Mary’s University Choir bring over 150 voices together to this intimate piece of death, light and salvation.
