New development with 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space coming to northeast Calgary

A new condominium development is in the works in northeast Calgary, and it’s set to add hundreds of homes and tons of retail space to the area.
The development, called Saddle Ridge Crossing, is planned for the Saddle Ridge neighbourhood and is expected to be built out across multiple phases.
When speaking with Daily Hive, the developer, Creation Communities, said the full anticipated residential build-out will include more than 600 condo units along with approximately 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space once complete.
It will give future residents access to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, medical offices, business services and other commercial offerings right outside their doors.

Phase one of the development, which is currently underway, will include 120 condo suites across two six-storey residential buildings, and approximately 83,000 sq. ft. of commercial space across two three-storey commercial buildings.
The condos will range in size and include amenities like heated underground parking, storage lockers, and a pet wash station.
According to Major Projects Alberta, a building permit for one of the three-storey commercial buildings was issued on Aug. 12, 2026, by the City of Calgary.
According to the development’s website, it’s in a prime location, near the Saddletowne CTrain Station, giving residents easy access to Calgary’s transit network. It’s also close to major routes like Metis Trail and Stoney Trail.

Residents will also be close to Prairie Winds Park, the Genesis Centre and Saddle Ridge’s pathway network.
The first phase is planned to include 275 parking stalls, with the development aiming to create a community where residents can access a range of everyday services close to home.
