4 restaurants and bars that recently closed or are closing soon around Calgary

While there are always plenty of new restaurants and bars popping up on the scene, there are usually a few casualties.
This month, several bars, restaurants, and cafes in Calgary and the surrounding areas revealed that they would be closing their doors soon.
From one of the city’s most legendary nightclubs to a local bakery, here are some of the biggest closures.

Cowboys Dance Hall

One of Calgaryâs most legendary nightclubs is hanging up its cowboy hat after more than 30 years in the city.
Cowboys Dance Hall, the iconic nightclub located inside Cowboys Casino, took to social media to share that it would be closing its doors and âriding into an exciting new chapter,” with the team focusing on expanding Cowboys Music Festival and other events.

Uprising Bakery

Owners of beloved Canmore bakery, Uprising, shared that they would be closing down production.
âWe truly wish we could have shared this goodbye with more notice, but the timing of the closure came sooner than we had hoped.â
While Uprising will be greatly missed by those both local and visiting, its famous sourdough will still be on the menu at The Corner Pub.

Ricardo’s Hideaway

Ricardoâs Hideaway, the popular haunt for rum-based cocktails and endless summer vibes, has revealed itâs saying âbon voyageâ at the end of summer, after a decade in business.
To celebrate an epic 10 years at its home just off 17th Avenue, Ricardoâs will be hosting a summer-long farewell party to see it out in style, with surprise rum specials, late-night endless jerk crab and wings, and $10 rum cocktails.

Murrietaâs â Calgary

Last year, Ron Salverda, president and CEO at C.A. Restaurant Enterprises, told Dished that, after a phenomenal 25 years in the space, Murrietaâs would be closing in April 2026.
However, in a recent Instagram post, Murrietaâs shared the joyous news that it would be hanging around for a little bit longer, with its new closing date slated for Aug. 1, 2026.
