While Calgary is already beautiful in the fall, day trips out of the city can be a nice way to take in the changing colours and enjoy a slower-paced day.
From quiet small towns to scenic foothill communities, here are six day trips from Calgary to take this fall.
Diamond Valley

If you’re looking for a quiet fall escape, Diamond Valley is the place to be. Located nearly an hour southwest of Calgary, Diamond Valley is surrounded by beautiful fall scenery and is a great spot to take in the changing leaves. You can grab a bite to eat or check out some local shops all while enjoying a nice fall day.

Okotoks is the perfect day trip for a change of scenery and pace, as the town is located just 30 minutes south of Calgary. With scenic paths along the Sheep River and plenty of local cafes, shops, and restaurants to check out, it’s the perfect place to spend a fall day. You can also make a stop at the famous Big Rock before heading back to the city.

Bragg Creek

If the outdoors is more your style, Bragg Creek is a great destination. Found about 30 minutes west of Calgary, the area is surrounded by forests, making it a great place to see fall colours. You can also spend the day exploring nearby trails before checking out the townsite.
