At least with blue skies ahead (we hope!) we can look forward to a beautiful new season as April rolls around this week.
From DIY workshops to Easter Egg Hunts to Easter Brunch, this week is filled with hippity hoppity festivities that will keep the whole family preoccupied.
Aside from the Easter fun, we encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy a few of the last days of winter activities before the snow is gone. Head up to the slopes for spring skiing or simply take a walk through the frosty landscape. Don’t forget your camera; you’ll want to capture the magical beauty that this time of year always brings!

Frida Kahlo: Her Photos
- What: Get inspired as you stroll through beautiful photographs taken by the famous and fascinating Frida Kahlo. There are more than 240 pieces that were kept in her home, ‘The Blue House,” for over 50 years under her estate. Visitors will have the opportunity to better understand the woman behind the artist; her origins, her roots, her friendships and romantic relationships, her fragile health, her political tendencies, and her special relationship with photography. This is the first time this exhibition has ever been presented in Canada!

- Take in the crisp outdoor air and the picturesque views as you march your way through the many trails in and around the Calgary area â plus, it’s a great workout! If you’re are more of an inner city roamer, check out Fish Creek Park Or Nose Hill for some fantastic trails closer to home. If you’re interested in taking a drive out to the Rockies, Canmore, Bragg Creek, and Banff all boast unreal trail paths that lead to some magical destinations. Be sure to check trail reports before heading out, and dress for the weather!
Cross Country Skiing
- What:Â Cross Country Skiing can be wildly underestimated as a sport, but it is really a great workout and can be a great way to be active while enjoying the beauty of a snow-covered landscape. The best part is that you donât even have to go very far from Calgary for a snowy cross-country skiing adventure.
- Where:Â Check out one of the many popular cross-country skiing areas within the city, such as Fish Creek Park, Confederation Golf Course, Lakeview Golf Course, or South Glenmore Park. If you are interested in travelling a little bit further, check out areas just outside of the city limits, such as West Bragg Creek, Ribbon Creek, Canmore Nordic Centre, Mt.
