A massive new development with up to 1,550 residential units is being proposed next to a northwest Calgary CTrain station.

Called Brentwood Crossing, the proposed development would be located at 4122 and 4122R Brentwood Rd. NW, on the existing Calgary Co-op site next to Brentwood Station and Blakiston Park.

The 6.8-acre site would be transformed into a mix of residential buildings, retail space, and new public green space. Plans call for seven buildings ranging from six to 30 storeys, with around 55,000 sq. ft. of commercial and retail space along a new commercial high street.

The street would connect Brentwood Way NW near University City to Brentwood Road NW, with shops and services at ground level and residential units above. The plans also leave room for a potential Calgary Co-op urban-format grocery store with new homes above.

There would also be around 0.7 acres of new public park and open space, extending the recently enhanced Blakiston Park into the site.

Plans include landscaped pathways, gathering areas, and spaces for passive recreation. Residential units with individual entrances would face the park, while building heights would gradually decrease toward the surrounding neighbourhood.

Truman is submitting an outline plan, land use redesignation, and policy amendment application to the City of Calgary. These applications would establish the planning framework for the proposed development, but the project is still in the planning stage.

This isn’t the only Calgary CTrain station that could see homes added nearby. Nearly 400 residential units are currently being proposed near the Franklin CTrain Station.
