Nearly 400 residential units proposed at new development near Calgary CTrain station

Hundreds of new residential units may be on tap for Calgary, with a new mixed-income development proposed near the Franklin CTrain Station.

Onward Homes is proposing over 370 units at 2734 Radcliffe Dr. SE, with the project set to include four- and six-storey multi-residential buildings.

The development would include a mix of unit types, including three-bedroom homes and universally accessible suites, with affordable housing also planned as part of the project.

The City has identified several LRT stations as potential areas for future development, with affordable housing among the uses being considered. Franklin Station is one of those areas, alongside Fish Creek, Anderson, and Dalhousie stations.

“Located along Calgary’s LRT network, Franklin Station will soon be home to a vibrant, mixed-income development centred on transit-oriented design. That means homes built near reliable public transit, making it easier for residents to live affordably and access the opportunities that help them thrive,” the project website says.

According to a development permit application submitted to the City of Calgary, the project would include three six-storey buildings and one four-storey building, totalling about 27,020 square metres in size with 376 dwelling units.

The proposed development is part of the City’s broader Franklin Station Area Improvements project. It is supported through grant funding from the Government of Alberta’s Affordable Housing Partnership Program and the City of Calgary’s Transit-Oriented Development Implementation Strategy.

The development permit is currently under review and needs to be approved before a building permit can be issued. Onward Homes expects construction to take place throughout 2027.
