It’s safe to say it’s been a busy month for Bianca  Andreescu.

In just a little over two weeks, the 19-year-old has not only won the US Open, but she’s also had a street named after her, received the key to her hometown of Mississauga, had a day named after her, and a celebratory rally was thrown in her honour that Liberal leader Justin Trudeau attended.

The rally celebrated the recent accomplishments of Andreescu, who became the first Canadian to win a grand slam singles title after knocking out  US Open veteran Serena Williams and winning the major tournament earlier this month.

Andreescu has been a resident, student, and athlete in Mississauga and even began her career at Mississauga’s Ontario Racquet Club.

Sunday’s event saw thousands of people flood Mississauga Celebration Square, with fans holding signs and chanting Andreescu’s name.

In addition to Trudeau, other notable guests included Toronto Mayor John Tory, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, and former mayor Hazel McCallion.

Don’t worry if you didn’t make it out to the celebration, you can check out photos from the rally below.
