This map shows how far smoke from BC wildfires is spreading across Canada

Smoke from BC wildfires is spreading across the country, and this map (known as the National Wildfire Smoke Model) shows just how far it will move in the next 48 hours.

When you click directly on the BC region, you can see how the smoke is traveling across the province and in which areas it is most concentrated.

According to a¬†release¬†from Environment Canada, ‚Äúelevated levels of fine particulate matter are expected to occur over the next few days.‚ÄĚ

A look at Metro Vancouver’s Air Map also provides a closer, more in-depth glimpse at the air quality health index (AQHI) around specific areas of the region.

Surrey, Langley, Mission, and Abbotsford register as having an AQHI rating of 4.

The rest of Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore, downtown Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and the Maple Ridge all have AQHI ratings of 10 or higher, which registers as ‚Äúvery high.‚ÄĚ

But there could be some relief on the way for the wildfires raging across the province as rain is expected to fall in several regions across BC this weekend.
