
Typical February weather has been absent for much of Alberta this week, with some areas in the province setting daytime maximum temperature records yesterday.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) stated in a weather summary on Thursday that thanks to a warm upper ridge, numerous spots in Alberta broke records, including the Edmonton area, which saw its highest daily maximum temperature for any Feb. 4 in the record books since they started being kept back in 1880.
ECCC added that the following areas set a daily maximum temperature record on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026:
Athabasca Area

ECCC added that the temperature records reported have been derived from a selection of historical stations in each geographic area that were active during the period of record.
