If you’re looking to travel somewhere special this year, you won’t have to go far. A popular Alberta spot was just named one of the best places to travel in 2026.
Time Out just released its list of the top places to travel in 2026, and the Canadian Rockies took the top spot, mentioning two amazing experiences in the region.
The ranking noted the region’s “cutting-edge wellness” approach, talking about Basin Glacial Waters, a spa that opened in the summer of 2025 at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, calling it “reason enough to pull the trigger on a trip.”

According to its website, the Basin Glacial Waters is “a thermal bathing experience like no other.” It offers an indoor-outdoor experience with hot and cold pools, steam rituals, and saunas right in the heart of the Rockies.
Apart from the beautiful spa, the ranking also noted the new Passage to the Peaks train route that the Rocky Mountaineer is embarking on this June and July.

The new route is the only Rocky Mountaineer train ride that does not go to the West Coast and makes stops in destinations like Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Calgary, Edmonton, and Kamloops. Visitors have the opportunity to choose from one, five, seven, or nine-night experiences travelling through the Rocky Mountains.
Passage to the Peaks was also already named one of the most exciting things to do in 2026.
Some other destinations on the list include Rabat, Morocco, which took second place, followed by Algodoes, Bahia, Brazil, in third and Hamburg, Germany, in fourth.
