Alberta reports 40 more coronavirus cases and no new deaths

Alberta health officials discovered 40 new coronavirus cases in the past day, according to an email from the provincial government Saturday afternoon.

The new cases mean there are now 336 active infections in the province, the majority in the Calgary zone. Alberta has now seen a total of 7,138 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

Recoveries also continue to increase, with 6,656 Albertans considered clear of their illness.

There are 44 people in Alberta’s hospitals with coronavirus infections, and six of them are in intensive care.

There were no new coronavirus deaths to report on Saturday, so Alberta’s death toll stays at 146.

The next update from Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will happen on Monday, June 8.
