Krause Berry Farms 5th Annual Butterfly Release

  • What: The 5th Annual Butterfly Release & Fundraiser is returning to the Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery in Langley this summer. The annual fundraiser brings in hundreds of guests every year who join the celebration at the beautiful gardens onsite. On the day of the event, 400 Painted Lady Butterflies will take flight for the very first time, in an eclectic display of colour. The butterflies are released symbolically, in memory and honour of loved ones, by participants of all ages.

Bats of Burrvilla

  • What: As dusk descends, watch and learn about bats as they head out to feast on a buffet of insects.

Red Bull 400 2018

  • What: Known as the “steepest race in the world,” the almost-vertical race challenges competitors with a single objective: First one to the top wins. Testing both speed and endurance, this race challenges runners with 400 metres on a 37° incline from the bottom of a ski jump, straight to the top.

Lynn Headwaters and the Mining Frontier

  • What: Join mines researcher Lloyd Knutsen for a 9-km return hike in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park. Along the way, Lloyd will share his knowledge of the prospectors and history of mining in the area, look at historical artifacts and minerals, and tell stories using old maps and photographs. Bring water and lunch. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.

Vallea Lumina

  • What: Vallea Lumina is an immersive, light-up night walk created by Montreal-based entertainment studio, Moment Factory and Whistler’s very own “The Adventure Group.” The 1.5 km walk is staged at Cougar Mountain. Located just eight minutes north of Whistler Village, the night walk uses the lush rainforest and a stunning array of mountain and valley views as the backdrop.

3-Day Glam Master Class at AVB Academy

  • What: The AVB x Glam Master Class with Glam House and Academy is a 3-day intensive glam makeup course that covers all there is to know about the various types of glam makeup looks. This is perfect for teenagers looking to turn their hobby into a career, soon-to-be brides, or makeup artists seeking an educational upgrade.   • What: The eighth annual Indian Summer Festival features a multitude of events, artists, and performances around the city. The theme for this year’s festival is “Mythmaking.”

Carnaval del Sol 2018

  • What: The biggest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest returns to Vancouver this July. The 10th annual Carnaval Del Sol is a two-day celebration of Latin American Culture. The event features live music, art, dance, sports, and poetry. Over 400 artists from different Latin American countries will attend the festival as well this year.

  • What: The 4th annual Blessed Coast Music, Yoga & Arts Festival offers a curated line-up of ground-breaking local and international Artists, DJs and Producers. Blessed Coast also hosts BC’s favourite Yoga Teachers, Speakers and Wisdom Keepers in their Yoga Shala and Workshop spaces.

Honda Celebration of Light fireworks 2018

Honda Celebration of Light/Jonathan Evans

  • What: English Bay in downtown Vancouver will once again be showered with fireworks for three nights this summer, as the 2018 Honda Celebration of Light fireworks competition returns to the city. Organizers announced this morning that the participating countries for the festival’s 28th year will be South Africa on July 28, Sweden on August 1, and South Korea on August 4. New this year, all three of the participating countries will be required to incorporate the same theme into their fireworks display and musical accompaniment. The theme, as voted by the public, will be “Love.”

  • What: One of the most popular summertime events in the city is back as free outdoor movies return to Stanley Park this summer for its 10th anniversary! The Evo Summer Cinema Series features a four-story inflatable movie screen showing film classics and modern blockbusters. Please bring your own blankets and/or lawn chairs and, since it’s a family-friendly event, smoking or alcohol is not permitted. Moviegoers are encouraged to walk, take transit, or bike to Stanley Park for the shows  – there will be a bike valet service offered on site each night too.

Starlight Theatre at Lansdowne Centre

  • What: Take a trip back to the days of poodle-skirts, greased hair, and doo-wop music – the Drive-In Movie Series returns to Lansdowne Centre for its third year, presented by Fresh Air Cinema. Enjoy classic, family-friendly, and even some of the latest hits on an outdoor screen. Take a drive and cuddle up, or bring a blanket and lawn chair and settle in. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis (first 200 vehicles), and the movie audio will be broadcast over FM radio. Keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event, so smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Summer Movie Nights on the Square

  • What: Vancouver is getting a whole new free outdoor movie series as šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly Vancouver Art Gallery’s North Plaza) is set to play host to Summer Movie Nights on the Square. Each Wednesday evening from July 4 to August 29, Fresh Air Cinema’s large, four-storey inflatable screen will pop up, creating the perfect urban environment to take in a flick surrounded by the concrete jungle – just be sure to bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets.

VSO presents Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope

Slide The City North Vancouver 2018

  • What: The 1,000-foot-long slip-and-slide will be returning to Lower Lonsdale. Using inner tubes, sliders go down the hill along a four-block-long stretch of Lonsdale Avenue from Victoria Park to 4th Street, where there is a large finish line splash pool. Thousands of others will also be along the sidelines and at the finish line to watch sliders go down the roadway at speeds of up to 15 km/h. Parking for the event will be limited, so biking, walking, or transit is encouraged.

Meowfest

Khatsahlano Street Party 2018

  • What: The free annual festival will take over 10 blocks along Kitsilano’s 4th Avenue between Burrard Street and Macdonald Street. Center of Gravity 2018
