Music lovers in Coquitlam: Prepare yourselves for a musical summer. Free concerts under the evening sky start next month, as Coquitlam’s Summer Concert Series returns for the second year.

The three-part series will be themed around the musical genres of jazz, classic rock, and Motown this year. It takes place on July 13, August 3, and September 8, from 7 to 9 pm, and each concert features two musical acts for each concert.

The concerts are held at the TD Community Plaza, which offers amazing views of the water and city skyline. The venue has seating for up to 1,300 people, as well as grass space to lay out blankets.

The series is expected to attract over 10,000 people this year. Event-goers are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, and they can pack a picnic or purchase dinner from an amazing on-site food truck.

The event kick-off on Friday, July 13 will be a jazz-themed night, as the members of the Beauty Shop Dolls sing in perfect harmony. They will be followed by The Hummingbird Brigade, a New Orleans style funky-jazz brass band including some of Vancouver’s top jazz musicians.

For more information on the series or the entertainers, visit the event’s website.
