The 'steepest race' in the world comes to Whistler this summer

Sure, a 400-metre sprint may seem like a simple and straightforward concept, but when it comes to a foot race known as the Red Bull 400 happening in Whistler this summer, the event is anything but.

Known as the “steepest race in the world,” the almost-vertical race challenges competitors with a single objective: First one to the top wins.

Testing both speed and endurance, this race challenges runners with 400 metres on a 37° incline from the bottom of a ski jump, straight to the top.

Runners race en masse, and the event is open to anyone who wants to register – although a good level of physical fitness, endurance, and balance is necessary.
