Some YVR flights delayed due to NAV Canada constraints

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) flights have been experiencing some delays due to air traffic control resource restraints.
According to Vancouver Airport Authority media representative Kate Macrae, earlier on Friday, “YVR briefly entered a ground stop due to constraints at NAV CANADA, the country’s air navigation service provider.”
“It has since been lifted; however, some flight schedules are impacted,” she added.
While YVR’s flight departure page currently lists a few delays, many more arriving flights appear to have been affected.

NAV Canada’s director of industry relations, Jonathan Bagg, provided more insight about today’s issues.
“Air traffic delays can result from a variety of factors, including infrastructure maintenance, runway construction, surges in demand, personnel resourcing and adverse weather conditions (the most frequent source of delays in Canada),” Bagg told Daily Hive via email.
“We can confirm that a temporary TMI was implemented at Vancouver International Airport today due to a combination of construction activity, increased traffic volume and resource constraints.”
NAV Canada resource constraints also occurred last month, which disrupted YVR operations, and many flights were delayed.
YVR passengers are being encouraged to check their latest flight status directly with their airline and are reminded that they must contact their airline for rebooking options.
