YVR beats out major competition to be crowned best airport in North America

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is having one of its busiest years on record in 2025, and the accolades are continuing to pour in.
The 32nd annual World Travel Awards recently crowned YVR as North America’s leading airport, beating out heavy competition from across Canada and the United States.
The award is one of several won by B.C. attractions and destinations, continuing a hot streak of recognition for the local tourism industry.

The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to “acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence” in key travel, tourism, and hospitality industry sectors around the world.
YVR came out on top of the North America’s Leading Airport category ahead of 10 other finalists, including Calgary International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Canada’s second-largest airport was also named one of the world’s best airports in the annual Skytrax World Airport Awards, one of the world’s most accessible airports by CN Traveller, and leads Canada for passenger satisfaction among large airports in J.D.
