New Syrian-Lebanese pop-up "Yasma" launches in Vancouver
A new Syrian-Lebanese pop-up restaurant offering takeout and delivery has launched in Vancouver, and it’s called Yasma.
This new concept comes to us from the same folks behind Kitsilano’s Dark Table and aims to bring flavours and dishes of the Levant region to Vancouver.
“These dishes are laced deeply within our culture and tied to memories of family and friends, which we hold close to our hearts,” says Sami Mousattat, general manager of Yasma.
“The food of the Levant tells our stories and we want to share our passion for this cuisine with Vancouver in the way it was intended.”

Yasma, which will operate out of the Dark Table kitchen, offers diners a great selection of Syrian and Lebanese dishes made with fine imported spices and locally sourced, halal, in-house butchered meats.
The menu from Yasma includes a selection of cold mezze and salads like Babba Ganouch, Saffron Labneh, Eggplant Mutabbal, and Fattoush Salad, Tabouleh Salad, and Yalandji (grape leaves).

For hot mezze, there is Lamb Sausage and Kibbeh to name a few, which can be ordered alongside some show-stopping handhelds. These include the Tawouk Burger & Fries (grilled chicken) and the Lamb Burger & Fries, made with jalapeño/cilantro mayo, sumac caramelized onion, mint, and pistachios.

In addition to this, there’s a Falafel & Fries option and several kinds of kebabs and sides as well.
Many of Yasma’s offerings are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal, and naturally, are designed to be easily packed away and enjoyed via takeout.

“Our team has spent much of their life living and travelling in the Levant and we want to share my knowledge and experiences with Vancouver through the distinct scents and flavours of our home,” Mousattat says.
“Many dishes on Yasma’s menu will bring you to a place you have possibly never been, longing for a time that never was. The Germans have a word for this, fernweh, and it’s a feeling we hope to impart on all of our guests.”
You can order from Yasma Tuesday to Saturday from 5 to 9 pm.
