Street Auntie Aperitivo House to open in Vancouver in November

Street Auntie Aperitivo House, a new contemporary Chinese street food concept, is slated to open in the Granville Entertainment District this month.

The 1039 Granville Street eatery will be welcoming its first guests into its upscale setting on Wednesday, November 25.

Owner Yuyina Zhang drew inspiration for the new downtown spot from her childhood experiences growing up in Yunnan Province, China, where street food vendors are referred to as ‘Street Aunties.’

Zhang has designed five different menus for the launch: Butcher Auntie, Ocean Auntie, Yunnan Auntie, Dim Sum Auntie, and Vegetarian Auntie.

All of these themes reflect a part of the food culture in Yunnan.

“The fond memories I have of the Street Aunties I knew as a child – and who are still a warm and welcome sight for hungry passersby – were a true source of inspiration for me,” says Zhang.

“I can’t wait to help bring people in Vancouver together to experience an upscale and immersive street-food experience while enjoying great company at Street Auntie.”

Street Auntie will be open Wednesdays through Mondays from lunch and dinner, and there will be a brunch service offered on Sundays.

Patrons will enjoy comfort eats with contemporary twists like steamed fresh seafood, modern Northern dim sum, and Asian tapas dishes.

Diners can expect a weekly rotating menu during a pre-booked one-hour time slot for $38 per person for lunch or $58 for dinner. Curated takeout boxes will also be up for order.
