Dec 9 2019, 11:21 pm

After four men suffered stab wounds in an early-morning altercation in Yaletown over the weekend, Vancouver Police Department said on Monday that the incident involved 20 men from two different known gangs in the Lower Mainland.

According to police, they responded to a call of a large group of men fighting in the area of Hamilton and Helmcken streets, just before 2:30 am. The two groups “had an altercation inside a Yaletown establishment which spilled onto the street.”

Seven people were arrested and taken to jail, but have since been released with no charges.  However, police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.

One man remained in hospital later Sunday morning with more serious injuries than the others, according to VPD Const. Tania Visintin.

Now, police are requesting anyone who has cellphone video or is a witness to the violent assault to contact investigators, and anyone with information is asked to contact VPD at 604-717-2541.

Those who wish to leave an anonymous tip can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or by leaving a tip online.
